The book turns out to be a surprising and griping story... the first chapter takes such a sharp turn from what you might be expecting... it will leave you stunned. As you read on you will find that there is a life truth to be had, as you follow the journey of Failure McFadden. The story follows a young man as he struggles through a hard world complicated by his own bad choices... lots of interesting twists... although I would have liked to spend more time in Asia...
Great beginning for a first time author... the writer tries on some interesting literary techniques... look forward to seeing the next book...
Life of Failure is one of the novels that grabs your attention in the first chapter and keeps holding it until the very end. Orville's struggle to overcome fear and deal with perceived failure is very raw and real. The drama is very deep and the writing style is reflective. I found myself haunted by the images created in the book.
I made an effort to finish reading this book, what a failure.The first part is interesting and well written but then it becomes too drawn out until the veredict of the psichiatrist which in itself is very accurate.Then comes the last part when Orville goes and come back from south east Asia which is like trying to mix oil and water,and besides it is never stated where did his money came from to have such way of living.
From the first sentence to the last, this book makes you want more. I could not turn the pages fast enough. The descriptive narrative is gripping and the characters are endearing. This book needs the spotlight it deserves. READ IT!
This book had so many moments in it that will make the reader reflect about in his/her or life's moments. The way it is written, with nostalgic memories and really open heartfelt confessions, just makes you think back to a time that maybe you went through something similar. It's not a very long book. It's not too complicated either. It's just perfect for a quick, and meaningful read.
I have a knack of figuring out where a story is headed and it often ruins books and films for me. This book has lots of twists and turns, certainly not expected and very entertaining.
After reading the opening chapter before the book was published, I was hooked. And when I received the book before the holidays I could not put it down. Each chapter built upon the last. The fluidity in Tim's writing style made for a wonderful read. The storyline and descriptive writing made for an excellent novel. I am very impressed at this first novel. If this is what Tim produces the first time around, I cannot wait to read his future publications.
